About the Position
Job Responsibilities
The VP of Digital Marketing/Demand Generation is responsible for driving the economic engine at selfpublishing.com. The purpose of this position is to grow Qualified Appointments (Qapps) and Revenue as fast as possible while also reducing CAC (cost to acquire customer).
This is done by managing our growth channels (see chapters 10 & 11 in Extreme Revenue Growth) and the leaders of those channels. There are 2 main ways to drive revenue:
- Filling up the sales team’s calendars with qualified appointments
- Generating “non rep revenue” via marketing funnels
MUST be great at 3 things:
- Scaling paid acquisition channels past $10M/year (FB/IG/Google/YT/LinkedIn)
- Proven leader of a marketing / demand generation team at scale
- LOVES marketing & is passionate about it
The VP of Marketing focuses the team on growing the channels that are working, pruning the channels / campaigns that aren’t working, and breeding a culture of testing/innovation to sprout new marketing campaigns and channels.
All of these decisions are made by data and rigorous testing…NOT… “gut feel”. Trusting your gut (informed by conversations with customers) is great when coming up with new tests to run…not when making big decisions on how to allocate marketing budget.
KPI's
- Revenue – grow by 40%+ or more per year
- # of Qapps – grow by 40%+ or more per year
- Cost to Acquire Customer (CAC)
Compensation Structure
- Competitive pay: $125,000 – $250,000+ total comp
- Approximately 1/2 base, 1/2 incentive comp based on revenue growth
- Top tier healthcare: Your choice of high quality healthcare (For US-based full-time employees)
- Self-Care budget: $3,000 annual to be used for massages, house cleanings, or even date nights with your spouse
Work remotely: save $5k/year in commuting costs and 100+ hrs each year (aka. 2 ½ extra weeks of vacation time)

Weekly Schedule
This is a 100% work from home position with the expectation of 45 hours a week of availability. You are welcome to open additional slots on a given week if you would like. The hours can be quite flexible, since we have apsiring authors all around the world.
Qualifications
Required:
- Experience running marketing for a company doing at least $20M in annual revenue
- Ability to create & grow multiple marketing channels (and manage the leaders of those channels) in a way that drives down CAC while also growing revenue
- A visionary with a deep understanding of innovative online marketing strategies and a proven track record of creating campaigns and initiatives that will drive down CAC while increasing revenue.
- A strong leader / executive who can lead a team
- Thorough hands-on-keys experience building, implementing, and maintaining marketing campaigns and automated systems.
- Solid grasp of copywriting
