Renes is a fresh voice in the literary world – a polyglot who above all cherishes his role as a father to two sons who he describes as “the brightest stars in his universe”.
His journey began in Haiti, where he spent his early years before moving to Paris and later England.
His book challenges the overemphasis on standardized tests, advocating for a more balanced approach that prioritizes student well-being and holistic learning over test scores.

Who is this book for?
Anyone passionate about education—teachers, aspiring educators, school administrators, and policymakers—must absolutely read my book.
With the global teaching profession facing high burnout rates, a significant dropout of new teachers within the first five years, and ongoing debates about standardized testing and mental health in schools, my book offers vital insights. It addresses the real struggles and solutions for connecting with students, rethinking assessments, and fostering a supportive, empathetic classroom environment.
It’s an essential read for those committed to transforming education and rekindling their passion for teaching.
What inspired you to share your story in the form of an education book?
I decided to write this now because I wanted to base my writing on experience and facts rather than just feelings.
We all know how important data is, as it provides a credible foundation for any argument. Some things required time to be tested and refined before I could confidently share them with others.

Tell us about your own journey as a polyglot, educator, and resident of multiple nations, to eventually becoming an author – what was that like?
My journey began in Haiti, where I spent my early years before moving to Paris.
I hold a degree in English and American Literature and History from the prestigious Sorbonne Nouvelle University.
In 2001, I completed my PGCE (Post Graduate Certificate of Education) at the University of Southampton, England, becoming a qualified secondary school teacher.
As a teenager, I discovered my passion for writing, initially expressing my creativity through comics that combined my storytelling with detailed drawings.
My first comic, sold to a classmate for 30 francs (£3/$5), was a point of pride and a step into a lifelong journey of creative expression.
This love of creative expression and education culminated in writing a book for selfpublishing.com.
Did you experience any challenges while writing?
The hardest part of turning my expertise into a book was structuring the chapters logically and finding credible data and other authors to support my points.
For example, organising the content to flow seamlessly—from respect and motivation to the broader issues in education—required careful consideration to ensure the book was both informative and engaging for readers while staying true to my teaching philosophy.
What are your plans for the future?
My plans for the future with this book are to positively impact the lives of teachers, educators, and parents worldwide.
I hope it inspires meaningful change in classrooms, strengthens connections between teachers and students, and provides valuable insights that empower both educators and parents to create more supportive and effective learning environments.
