About the Position
Job Responsibilities
The Editor at selfpublishing.com is a pivotal role responsible for overseeing AI-assisted in-house editing services with a focus on efficient, high-quality manuscript editing. As an Editor, you play a critical role in empowering authors to confidently publish and market their books. Your responsibilities encompass editorial strategy, playbook development, collaboration with cross-functional teams, quality assurance, and project management.
NOTE: This position full-time and virtual. Meaning you can work from anywhere. The team here at SPS is located around the world, with the majority of us in North America. Preference for this position is someone working in the US or Canada.
DISQUALIFIERS: Please DO NOT apply to this position if you:
- Have no interest in books (and using books to change people’s lives)
- Have less than 2 years of Editing experience
- Inability to proficiently use essential writing and editing software and tools such as Microsoft Word, Google Docs, ProWriting Aid or Grammarly, and ChatGPT
- Inability to demonstrate perfectly written and spoken English.

ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Lead the implementation of AI-assisted in-house editing services
- Develop and execute editorial strategies for the new editing process
- Oversee the end-to-end editing process, ensuring efficiency and quality
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to optimize content for various platforms and audiences
- Monitor the editing workflow and implement improvements for smoother operations
- Maintain editorial standards, style guides, and best practices
- Foster a collaborative and innovative editorial environment
Compensation Structure
$35,000-$55,000 annual salary + incentive pay depending on qualification and experience.

Work remotely: save $5k/year in commuting costs and 100+ hrs each year (aka. 2 ½ extra weeks of vacation time)

Weekly Schedule
This is a 100% work from home position with the expectation of 45 hours a week of availability. You are welcome to open additional slots on a given week if you would like. The hours can be quite flexible, since we have apsiring authors all around the world.
Qualifications
Required:
- Required: 2+ years of experience in editorial roles
- Proficiency in utilizing Microsoft Word and Google Docs
- Familiarity with AI-assisted editing with software such as Prowriting Aid, Grammarly, and Chat GPT and workflow optimization
- Perfectly written and spoken English
Preferred:
- Has a bestselling book published on Amazon
- Has led a team of editors in past roles or other leadership experience
