If you’ve ever dreamed of becoming a published author but don’t have the time (or desire) to write and market a book on your own, you’ve probably come across Authors On Mission. This New York–based company promises a full-service, “done-for-you” book publishing experience through its signature ghostwriting process called Angel Writing.

But does Authors On Mission deliver on its lofty promises, or just charge lofty prices?

In this review, we’ll take an honest, in-depth look at the services they offer, what it’s like to work with them, and whether the value matches the sky-high costs.

Let’s dive into the details of what Authors On Mission offers, how much it costs, and whether it’s worth your investment.

What is Authors on Mission?

Authors On Mission is a book creation and marketing company, founded by Vikrant Shaurya in 2014, and headquartered in New York City. They originally started as BestsellingBook.com before rebranding to Authors on Mission in 2024.

Authors On Mission offers a full “done‑for‑you” service to help clients publish books. Their signature offering is the “Angel Writing” process: collaborative ghostwriting meant to capture your authentic voice.

Their service package typically includes:

  • Ghostwriting (Angel Writers)
  • Editing and proofreading
  • Cover design and formatting
  • ISBN, publishing, and distribution on platforms like Amazon
  • Marketing strategy, book launch, and positioning to reach bestseller rankings (often via niche category placements and promotional campaigns)

The Authors on Mission podcast

Authors on Mission has a podcast that some of its authors are featured on. If you want to be featured on the Authors on Mission podcast, you need to pay for their Empire package, which is exorbitantly expensive (more on that below).

Authors are featured on the podcast after their books have been published. The podcast itself has very high reviews and features a different author’s book with every episode. The podcast is only for highlighting authors, it doesn’t offer any information to clients about how to write, market, or publish their books.

Authors on Mission services

Authors on Mission offers a number of done-for-you services to help you publish your book. These include:

Ghostwriting

Authors On Mission’s Angel Writing is a high-end, collaborative ghostwriting experience that pairs you with a hand-selected writer who conducts in‑depth interviews to capture your authentic voice and ideas.

Over a typical 3–6 month timeline, you co-create a detailed outline, chapter drafts, and revisions, with unlimited edits until you’re fully satisfied.

Book editing

Authors On Mission offers expert book editing tailored to your manuscript’s stage and genre. Their team preserves your unique voice while enhancing structure, style, and clarity.

Services span four tiers: developmental editing, line editing, copyediting, and proofreading, each delivering detailed feedback to elevate quality. The process begins with a manuscript review to match you with an editor, followed by multiple rounds of revisions and a final polish.

Book marketing

Book marketing services include early sales acceleration, Amazon category optimization, pricing promotions, and securing at least 15 verified reviews. (At selfpublishing.com we work to get you 100 reviews.)

They also provide press kit and media outreach, social media kits, book trailer videos, influencer pitches, email marketing, podcast and blogging placements, and coordinated ad campaigns.

Book publishing

Authors On Mission provides end‑to‑end publishing support, guiding your manuscript from final draft to global release. Their process includes professional editing, eye-catching cover and interior design, and precise formatting for both eBook and print editions ($0.99 to post-launch pricing).

They handle ISBN allocation, distribution to platforms like Amazon, and POD (print-on-demand) printing. The team ensures your book meets industry standards and reaches wide availability. This service is offered as part of their full-service package, giving authors control of rights and earnings, and integrates seamlessly with their marketing and bestseller‑launch strategies.

Authors on Mission cost

Authors on Mission is not a budget service. In fact, their prices are outrageous. The company offers 3 different packages for its services.

The first package is “Elevate” which is a self-paced course with professional support. This do-it-yourself course will cost you $17,100. This is the cheapest of their options.

The second package is Executive. This costs $39,600 and includes a ghostwriter for your book. It’s truly unfortunate that there is no package in between. There are plenty of authors who want to write their own book but need help with the editing and marketing. There is no option for that at Authors on Mission. It just jumped straight from online course to full ghostwriting.

The most elite package at Authors on Mission is the “Empire” package. This will set you back a whopping $80,400. This package comes with a ghostwriter, TV exposure, media coverage, and platform amplification.

At selfpublishing.com, we offer a AAA Elite package with far more services for only $30,000 – less than half the cost.

Authors on Mission also has a bunch of add-on services. Unfortunately, it’s not easy to understand what these are because the link they provide leads to an error page saying “the file you have requested does not exist.” As such, there isn’t a good way to see how much things like marketing or book cover design will cost you without contacting the company.

Authors On Mission Website Issues

Pros and cons of Authors on Mission

Pros of working with Authors On Mission

Done-for-you service

From idea to publication, Authors On Mission offers full-service book development—including ghostwriting (“Angel Writing”), editing, publishing, and marketing—ideal for busy professionals.

Voice-driven ghostwriting

Their unique “Angel Writing” approach emphasizes capturing the author’s authentic voice through deep interviews and collaboration.

Credibility and growth

Featured on the Inc. 5000 list and accepted into the Forbes Business Council, they’ve gained

legitimacy and recognition in the industry.

Bestseller marketing strategy

They offer a #1 Amazon bestseller guarantee (or your money back) and focus on niche category optimization and early review building.

Rights retention

Authors keep 100% of royalties and full rights to their work, unlike many traditional or hybrid publishers.

Cons of working with Authors On Mission

Extremely high pricing

Their full-service package reportedly exceeds $80,000, which is significantly above market average—even among premium ghostwriting and publishing firms. Pricing isn’t clearly listed online, requiring a sales call to get detailed info.

Broken website links & lack of transparency

Multiple pages on their official website either don’t load or redirect improperly, which makes it frustrating for potential clients to get clear service descriptions, case studies, or pricing breakdowns.

Unverified reviews and hype language

Much of their marketing relies on bold claims like “bestseller in 30 days,” without consistently clear data or third-party verification. Some client reviews suggest underwhelming follow-through.

Limited refund or flexibility

While they offer a “bestseller guarantee,” it’s unclear how flexible their service model is for authors who only need select services (e.g., editing or publishing only).

Client and freelancer complaints

Reddit threads and independent reviews mention poor responsiveness, payment delays to freelancers, and mixed experiences with promised deliverables.

Authors on Mission reviews

If you are looking for an Authors on Mission scam, you won’t find it here. This is a legitimate service and most of the reviews are glowing.

That being said, if you use their services, you are being ripped off. This is from a ghostwriter in the industry:

This isn’t just a false claim. They have the receipts to back it up.

Authors On Mission Scam

While most people seem to have a good time working with the company, you are truly wasting your money (and the money on ghostwriters and editors) when you could be hiring them directly from Upwork

Final thoughts

If you have the money and trust Authors on Mission, they can probably help you turn out a pretty decent book. They may even be enjoyable to work with. But you will be wasting a lot of money.

selfpublishing.com offers everything Authors on Mission does and more for a fraction of the cost. You get one-on-one coaching help to write the book (or you can pay for a ghostwriter). It’s nice to have the option to write your own book if you want to!

You also get 5 rounds of editing instead of four, you get 100 book reviews instead of 15, and you still get the book cover design, formatting, and all the marketing and publishing help.

Best yet, we have our own dedicated team of professionals, so you don’t have to work about an Upwork bait and switch.

If you have the money for Authors on Mission, why not save yourself over $50,000 and work with selfpublishing.com? We’ve helped over 8,000 authors to publish their book – and you could be next.
